USW LOCAL 1-423 UPDATE
Local 1-423 Ratification Results
The Membership of Local 1-423 have voted to REJECT the proposed Memorandum of Agreement that was presented at our membership meetings.
Both the Cranbrook (1-405) and Kamloops (1-417) Locals voted in favour of the Agreement.
The next steps will be to contact the employer and let them know the results and see if they are willing to sit down at the table to discuss the issues that led to the rejection of the Agreement.
We have not served 72 hour strike notice yet and when we do there will be immediate notification to the membership.
All the SIMA (Southern Interior Master Agreement) chairs will be meeting on Monday to discuss the strategy going forward now that the results of the other Locals is known.
There are a few options that are available to us that need to be discussed.
There will be other notifications and bulletins in the near future to explain the procedure going forward.
Thanks
Pat McGregor, President USW Local 1-423
